Letter printing is a technique of printing which has been in existence since the 15th century. It was used to print the Gutenberg Bible by Johannes Gutenberg. There has been a conflict of facts whether the letterpress printing was developed in East or west, this conflict arouse because there was a suggestion that the Chinese used a similar method of printing before the Gutenberg Bible was printed. Before the development of offset printing letterpress printing remained the primary technique of printing for the purpose of communicating information. Offset printing was an extremely significant technological innovation. It has facilitated printed material available to several classes of people.

Letterpress printing includes the locking of the movable part into a bed of press and then inking it, and rolling or pressing paper against it to form an impression. Before the letterpress technique the technique followed earlier to it both in the east and west was technique which made the usage of wooden blocks and carved engravings. However Gutenberg was the individual who has been credited for the introduction of a movable printing technique which could be reused and reset. This technique revolutionized printing because each page of the book was not characterized by an individual set of carved engraved wooden blocks. A faster type setter can set the page within a few minutes.

The basic components which a letterpress includes are a press bed, rollers for ink, and it also contains a tympan. Tympan is nothing but a slightly stretched drum or disc shaped on which the paper is placed. There are some letter presses where the tympan is rolled across the bed for printing, while on the other hand a flat tympan is pressed against the bed for the formation of an impression. In case you want to use multiple colors then in such a situation multiple passes of the press are to be taken or in some cases the printers also use a split fountain technique wherein several colors of ink are split on the rollers.

Letterpress printing while it is not in common use, letterpress printing though it is valued by many artisans. Incase the letterpress printing uses high quality paper and inks, then they can create lush impressions. Letterpress printing is sometimes used to create special invitations, art projects, and announcements.

Letterpress printing is more time consuming technique than offset printing. It also results in higher costs. There have been several methods developed to make the process more effective.

I’m wondering if some people could help me out… I recently found a collection of cards that I’ve had since 1998 or so… and can’t find how much they’re worth. Other than one site, I was wondering if anyone else could help me find out ANY information about them other than the site I found. Here’s what I have:

12 gold leaf basketball cards; Michael Jordan from his rookie year in 1985 till his first retirement in 1997; signed by him; Made by Upper Deck; with a holographic affect on each.

So, how much?

Among the number of printing techniques one of the most popular printing techniques is that of the process printing, which is widely used throughout the world. The name process printing has been derived by the short form of the four color printing process, which is used as a reference to the way in which the images are prepared for the press. Process printing was invented in the early twentieth century and it was developed along with the offset printing, however it overtook the other printing methods in popularity by 1950’s. It is a very cheap, rapid and efficient method of printing and yet yields amazing images in mass production.

A majority of the printing objects which we enjoy these days are prepared using the technique of process printing. The glossy magazines, mailers, brochures, and the various other color printing projects are all developed using this innovative technique of printing. It so happens that in some cases the process printing is combined with some different colors wherein the different types of inks are mixed to create some specific color choices. Spot colors are essential for metallic inks and some special colored projects.

In order to prepare an image for process printing, the image is separated using four different color components cyan, magenta, yellow and black. This process of color separation is referred to as color screening and this is usually done digitally. For each of the four different colors some separate print plates are prepared for each of the four colors. Each color is segregated by a series of tiny dots which implies that in the areas where the color is sparsely sprayed, the tiny dots are small and they are spaced well apart from each other. On the other hand in the different areas where the color is densely located the dots are big and they do not possess any space between them.

Each of the different colored plate is printed separately and then it is laid on top of the previously printed ink. As all the four images are printed, the outcome which is produced is that of a colored image. The tiny dots which are present on each of the plates will come and merge together thus forming a colored image, however these dots can be viewed with the aid of a magnifying glass. It is quite important that the plates are well aligned with each other incase they are not done then the result which is obtained is blurry image.

This technique is an excellent printing technique, which allows the printers to efficiently produce colored images.

Michael Jeffery Jordan is probably one of the most well known names in the world of basketball. He was born on February 17, 1963 in New York City. Jordan was responsible for making National Basketball Association or the NBA famous, during the 1980s and 1990s. He is the fourth child of his parents, James R. Jordan, Sr. and Deloris Jordan.

As he developed his interest for basketball the high school he went to wouldn;t let him play because of his height, a few months later he went from being 5′11″ to 6′3″. He then got a basketball scholarship in 1981 from the University of North Carolina because of his impressive records in school. In the 1982 NCAA Championship game he made the game winning jump shot, as which he says is the turning point in his career and what made him what he is today.

He then started his pro career in 1984 when he signed with the Chicago Bulls. When he turned pro he was soon a public icon and he was also on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the headline, “A Star Is Born”. He won the NBA championship from 1991 to 1993 and was then known as the best basketball player around. Although many people disliked him, many loved to see him dunk from the free throw line. As that is what he was most famous for doing in those times and what gave him the nickname of Air Jordan. This is also the name of the signature shoes that just about every kid wants.

In October 1993, he took a temporary leave to go play baseball but wasn’t really good at it at all and the only reason he even left basketball was because of the loss of his father, he joined back in 1995 again. He then won it again by winning the NBA championships from 1996 to 1998. He then took another break again in 1999 to return back again in 2001, but this time he would join the Washington Wizards. He played with the team till 2003.

Michael Jordan was part of two award winning gold medalist Olympic teams. His first team won the first gold medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics and the second one was in the 1992 Summer Olympic Games. He set a record in NBA by making the highest career regular season scoring average of 30.1 points per game. He was the best that ever lived I think and he was my favorite player for a number of years until Carmelo Anthony and Labron James started to play in the NBA. He will always be remembered as making history and he will always be the one who first dunked from the free throw line. Even though he was a small guy once he grew fast into the NBA.
